2D2 5400

The 2D2 5400 electric locomotives, put into service in the 1930s, are an icon of the French rail network. Designed to meet the growing need for fast, reliable transport, they were mainly used on the electrified lines of the South-East network, linking Paris to Lyon and beyond.
